2020 3-star WR Devell Washington Was Exhilarated When Michigan Hired OC Josh Gattis

When Michigan decided to hire Alabama co-offensive coordinator Josh Gattis as its new offensive coordinator in Ann Arbor, Bay City (Mich.) Central 2020 three-star wide receiver Devell Washington was electrified.

Three of the top schools Washington is considering are Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State. With the Wolverines being near the top of his list, Washington now entertains the thought of playing for Gattis.

“That’s big,” Washington said. “He coached guys like Calvin Ridley and Jerry Jeudy, so he knows how to coach players up.

“He would make me a better person and player. He has championship mentality.”

Washington has went back-and-forth between the trip of Big Ten Conference schools, but he said Michigan is creeping up with the hire of Gattis.

“To be honest, that school’s coming into consideration for me,” Washington said. “They gave me my first Power Five offer, so that means a lot.”

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound stud has offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kentucky, Toledo and Western Michigan.

“Michigan’s always been high on my list,” he added.

Washington is ranked No. 476 in the 2020 class, No. 92 at wide receiver and No. 14 in Michigan, per the 247Sports Composite.
