Four New U-M Starters Replace Those Not Playing in Peach Bowl

Michigan takes on Florida at noon Dec. 29 in the Peach Bowl, but the Wolverines will be without four top players.

Senior running back Karan Higdon, senior right tackle Juwann Bushell-Beatty, junior defensive end Rashan Gary and junior linebacker Devin Bush Jr. will not play.

In turn, coach Jim Harbaugh will start junior Chris Evans at running back, redshirt freshman Andrew Steuber at right tackle, sophomore Kwity Paye at defensive end and redshirt freshman Josh Ross at linebacker.

Paye has already played in 10 games this seasons, as he received a large portion of time on the field when Gary was injured earlier in the season. Paye’s registered 27 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks and one forced fumble.

Evans has carried the ball 74 times for 403 yards and four touchdowns this season, adding 17 receptions for 142 yards and one score.

Helping in a backup role to Bush, Ross posted 43 tackles, four tackles for a loss, two passes defended in the regular season. Now, he starts the Peach Bowl.

Steuber is now starting, but he has been in the mix all season under offensive line coach Ed Warinner.
