CFAPB: Pictures, Video and Observations from Michigan Football Practice (12/27)

ATLANTA — Michigan took the field at Mercedes-Benz Stadium once again, but this time in pads and shorts, in preparation for Florida, who it faces on Saturday in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

WolverinesWire was on hand for the first fifteen minutes of practice on Thursday and gleaned a little from what transpired in Atlanta.

Observations

  • Most impressive thing I saw: Just like Donovan Peoples-Jones on Wednesday, Tarik Black came down with a one-handed catch (picture, albeit out of focus, in the gallery below). He did this while the team was working on fade routes in the end zone.
  • Joe Milton, known for having the strong arm, showed nice touch in the fade route drills.
  • Got a good idea of what the second rotation is on the offensive line. First is what we’ve known about: Runyan-Bredeson-Ruiz-Onwenu-Stueber. Behind them, it looked to be: Mayfield-Filiaga-Spanellis-Vastardis-Ulizio.
  • Dylan McCaffrey, while in a red jersey (compared to the other QBs being in maize) was running the same drills along with Patterson, Peters, Milton and Wittmer. Michael Sessa was over running drills with the scout team for the defense.
  • On the singular play I saw on defense, Michael Dwumfour showed the usual great burst.
  • Kwity Paye was lined up in Chase Winovich’s usual spot on the weak-side, while Winovich was on the strong-side. Of course, Michigan switches things up often, but still thought it was interesting.
  • Michael Barrett seems to still be solely on the defensive side. Was curious to see if he would get some play on the offensive side, as he was brought in as an offensive weapon.
