2019 QB Ren Hefley Commits to Michigan as Preferred Walk-On

Michigan already has a 2019 quarterback signee in Reno (Nev.) Damonte Ranch four-star Cade McNamara, but the Wolverines recently added insurance with a preferred walk-on.

Bryant (Ark.) two-star quarterback Ren Hefley committed to play for coach Jim Harbaugh on Dec. 23. He will be a preferred walk-on for the 2019 season.

Hefley made his mind back in October, but he was waiting to be accepted into the University of Michigan. Recently receiving his acceptance letter, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound signal caller went to Twitter with the news.

“Thank you to the teammates I’ve played with, coaches I’ve played for, and everyone else that has helped me reach this point in my football career,” Hefley wrote.

He was extended the opportunity back on June 2 at a Michigan camp.

According to Rivals, Hefley had a scholarship offer to play for Tennessee-Martin, an NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) school.
