2020 QB JD Johnson Has Michigan 'Very High' on His List

Michigan extended an offer to Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle 2020 three-star quarterback JD Johnson on Dec. 6, and the junior prospect is quite interested in the Wolverines.

Unsure of how Michigan’s staff found him originally, Johnson has been communicating with passing game coordinator Pep Hamilton for the past few months.

Hamilton enjoyed Johnson’s film and character.

“He thought I would be a good fit at Michigan,” Johnson said. “I guess they did a character check with my coaches at the high school.”

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound pro-style signal caller has offers from Arizona, Colorado State, Michigan, South Carolina and UNLV.

Throughout Johnson’s entire recruiting process, he’s enjoyed most the opportunity to develop a relationship with Hamilton. Johnson is also well aware of Michigan’s history.

“I enjoy the tradition, the standard of excellence and that they truly compete for the national championship every year,” Johnson said.

Johnson said he is working to schedule an unofficial visit to Michigan. He will visit before the end of January.

“I’m looking forward to meeting all the coaches and seeing the campus,” Johnson added.

The quarterback is ranked No. 559 in the 2020 class, No. 25 at his position and No. 18 in Arizona, per the 247Sports Composite.
