Michigan may not have finished the season as it would have liked, having lost the regular season finale with a lopsided loss to arch rival Ohio State. But they still have favor in the eyes of the College Football Playoff rankings committee.
At 10-2, the Wolverines finished at No. 7, still one behind the Buckeyes and one ahead of No. 8 UCF, who just dispatched Memphis, despite an injury to QB Mackenzie Milton.
Now, the maize and blue await their fate in the postseason, with most prognosticators projecting Michigan to have a rematch against No. 10 Florida in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
The Wolverines finish the season with wins of No. 12 Penn State and No. 22 Northwestern.
