Jalen Perry Commits to Michigan

Dacula (Ga.) 2019 four-star cornerback Jalen Perry has officially announced his commitment to Michigan.

On Nov. 17, Perry made a visit to see the Wolverines’ 31-20 victory over Indiana. Just two days later, he pledged to become the 26th member of Michigan’s 2019 class.

Perry is ranked No. 171 in the nation, No. 19 at cornerback and No. 22 in Georgia, according to 247Sports Composite.

The 6-foot-1, 188-pound defensive back turned down offers from South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Cincinnati, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Mississippi State, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Stanford, Tennessee and Vanderbilt to join the Wolverines.

“It’s a place I could see myself at because of the way Michigan plays their defensive backs, the knowledge of coach Brown and coach Harbaugh, and it’s an academic school,” Perry said prior to visiting this past weekend.

Perry said he’s electrified to get started for defensive coordinator Don Brown.

Of Michigan’s 26 commits in the 2019 class, the true defensive backs include five-star safety Daxton Hill, three-star cornerback DJ Turner II, three-star safety Quinten Johnson, three-star cornerback Mike Sainristil and three-star safety Joey Velazquez.

Perry was originally committed to Georgia, but he decommitted from the Bulldogs on Oct. 4.

“This is an extremely tough decision to make and I want to thank Coach (Kirby) Smart and the entire UGA coaching staff for building a relationship with me and giving me an opportunity,” Perry wrote on Twitter.
