Harbaugh Updates Chase Winovich's Injury Pre-Ohio State

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — More than anything, Michigan wanted to get out of the final home game of the season vs. Indiana healthy. But, that didn’t go as planned.

Michigan senior defensive end Chase Winovich — who coined the “Revenge Tour” motto that his team has been rallying behind — left the game against the Hoosiers early after the following play.

Rumors swirled after the game, and one outlet reported that he broke his collarbone.

That was immediately refuted in the postgame press conference, when Harbaugh said that Winovich’s X-rays came back negative.

“Things are progressing well with Chase,” Harbaugh said. “X-rays were negative here at the stadium and took him to the hospital as well for further tests – cat scan, etc. And those came out negative as well. So, I think we’re in a good place there.”

Which is not much different than what Harbaugh said at his Monday afternoon press conference.

“Really best possible outcome for Berkley and Chase as the way it looked on Saturday,” Harbaugh said. “Cat scans negative, X-rays were negative for both Berkley and Chase. But continue to evaluate him every day.”

Of course, with a game like this, there’s little to no chance that Harbaugh would reveal that Winovich would play or not.

The reference to Berkley is to Berkley Edwards, who was carted off the field on a backboard with a concussion. Sources close to the Edwards family indicated to WolverinesWire that Berkley’s progression has been significantly better than anticipated and that his prognosis going forward is good (save for his concussion).

Whether Winovich or Edwards are available or not, Michigan will finish out the regular season on Saturday, as the Wolverines head to Columbus to take on arch rival Ohio State at The Horseshoe. The game is set for 12PM EST.
