College Football Playoff Rankings Predictions: Michigan Sits Still After Win

On Tuesday we will get the third College Football Playoff rankings, and odds might not be in the Michigan Wolverines favor overall. While the Wolverines moved up in the rankings last week to number four, the CFP committee seems to have an SEC bias that only moved No. 3 LSU down to No. 7 and that could come into play this week after last week’s results. Here are my predictions for Tuesday’s rankings

1. Alabama

Easy one here as Alabama got another shutout against another top 20 team against Mississippi State. It plays The Citadel this week in what is a game that is already over, as the best team in college football plays against an FCS team.

2. Clemson

Again, no-brainer here as Clemson took down Boston College in their last true challenge until the playoffs as a game against Duke this week shouldn’t show much of a threat.

3. Notre Dame

Three straight wins and now Notre Dame has two tough games left against Syracuse and USC. These are the last two threats for Notre Dame’s perfect season as it gets closer to clinching the playoff spot.

4. Michigan

Michigan didn’t have a challenge with Rutgers, winning 42-7. It takes on Indiana next week as they won’t move up until it plays Ohio State.

5. Georgia

Georgia sits still, also, with its win over Auburn. Its only hope left to get in is if it can beat Alabama for the SEC title and sneak in late.

6. Oklahoma

Another close win for Oklahoma, this time against Oklahoma State and while I would like to move Oklahoma down, I doubt it falls, as LSU had a close win against Arkansas and Washington State didn’t have a big enough win to move up two spots. They play Kansas this week as that shouldn’t be much of a challenge for the Sooners.

7. Washington State

Instead of moving up two spots, Washington State moves up one as its win is more impressive than LSU’s, but the odds of the CFP going against the SEC are low, it just makes sense here. It takes on Arizona in what could be a trap game for the Cougars.

8. LSU

A close win against Arkansas will hurt LSU this week, but its playoff hopes are relying on upsets like crazy, and, with a game against Rice next week, it shouldn’t lose any time soon.

9. Ohio State

The Buckeyes move up despite their win against Michigan State not being that impressive, even though they won by 20. It was on the road and an impressive win against a ranked divisional opponent, and should it win against Maryland this week, it would be huge for Ohio State, as it would keep its playoff and Big Ten Championship hopes alive.

10. West Virginia

West Virginia drops down to 10th in the rankings as the Buckeyes had a more impressive win, as the Mountaineers won easily against TCU. Next, they take on Oklahoma State, who could spoil the slim chance that West Virginia has left to make the playoffs.

11. UCF

12. Syracuse

13. Florida

14. Texas

15. Penn State

16. Iowa State

17. Washington

18. Kentucky

19. Mississippi State

20. NC State

21. Boston College

22. Utah State

23. Northwestern

24. Boise State

25. Utah
