ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The only celebration wasn’t just about raising the two banners celebrating team championships on Tuesday night in Crisler Center.
Michigan head coach John Beilein, in the Wolverines 63-44 win over Norfolk St. won his 800th career game. After the game, he spoke about what that meant — very little, in the grand scheme.
“It’s 800 wins,” Beilein said. “It’s 800 wins – we’ll put it with all the other basketballs that are back there, but it’s nice to have a poster and (have) so many people congratulate you. I appreciate all of the people that have been a part of this, because it’s not done.
“Kathleen’s been with me for all 800. We got married, we lost a game, and then we won one, and that’s how it all started! We’re fortunate to have good coaches, good assistants. But now, let’s go after 900 – and I’ll probably have the exact same answer to you!”
John Beilein & Co. will attempt win 801 on Saturday, as the Wolverines welcome Holy Cross to Crisler Center, with tip-off set for 7:30PM.
