'I Love Coach (Sherrone) Moore': Baylor WR Commit Jaylen Ellis Updates Michigan Interest After Coach Visits

Round Rock (Texas) Cedar Ridge 2019 three-star wide receiver Jaylen Ellis has been committed to Baylor since June 15, 2017.

However, Michigan remains in hot pursuit. Coach Jim Harbaugh’s desire for Ellis was exemplified during his team’s bye week.

Michigan tight ends coach Sherrone Moore made the trip down to Cedar Ridge, Texas, to check in with Ellis.

“It’s always good to see him,” Ellis said. “I love coach Moore. He was just asking how everything down here is going.

“He’s a real chill guy and easy to talk to.”

Ellis, despite being committed to Baylor, has a top six of Baylor, Houston, Michigan, Cal, Arizona and Texas. The wide receiver said he is “very” interested in the Wolverines.

“They are a well-known program led by a legendary coach, in my eyes,” Ellis added.

The main aspect setting Michigan apart from the others is the tradition. Ellis got a first-hand taste during his official visit to see the Wolverines on Sept. 8.

“Everyone felt like it was home,” Ellis said following the official visit. “I’m happy that not only I enjoyed it, but my family did. My parents didn’t think this much was going to happen.”

A 6-foot, 180-pound receiver, Ellis has made 30 receptions for 786 yards and 11 touchdowns in seven games this season.

He is ranked No. 560 in the nation, No. 72 at wide receiver and No. 67 in the state of Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Ellis runs a 4.59-second forty-yard dash, 4.00-second shuttle and has a 36.5-inch vertical. He participated in The Opening Finals and will play in the All-American Bowl on Jan. 5, 2019.
