Jim Harbaugh Gives Updates On Injured Players

In some shocking news heading into the Michigan vs Michigan State football game on Saturday last week, wide receiver Tarik Black was dressed and traveled with the team. Black hasn’t played this season after suffering a right foot injury back in August and he was seen out of his walking boot two weeks before against Maryland.

Black would see the field last week against MSU, but was only on the field for three snaps and never saw a target. Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh would update the world on what is going on with Black by saying he was cleared by doctors to play but was limited in practice last week. So another week of rest could do wonders for the wide receiver as next week we could get a more serious update on Black’s return.

The other player people were talking about before the game last week was the defensive end, Rashan Gary. Gary didn’t travel with the team and missed the game. Harbaugh addressed that as well when he was asked about it.

“I don’t know,” said Harbaugh when asked if Gary’s injury was season ending. “Rashan didn’t feel like he could play in the game.”

Questions were lingered around Gary to see if he could take the Nick Bosa route, and withdraw from the team early to focus on getting healthy and prepare for the NFL draft. Harbaugh reiterated that it doesn’t seem to be the case when asked if Gary had that same indication.

“No,” said Harbaugh. “Hasn’t indicated that.”

Gary’s mother had an interesting tweet that went out on Monday and it seems like the situation about Gary being done to focus on the NFL is once again, nothing to worry about.

Defensive coordinator Don Brown spoke to the media on Tuesday and had some different things to say about it all.

“We’re trying desperately to get Rashan Gary back,” said Brown. “We’ll see if we can get that young man healthy.”

So overall it sounds like this bye week is at the perfect time for this team. It gives Black another week to rest and prepare for Penn State as he could possibly be a full participant in practice next week and be out there. Gary was practicing last week, so another week off to rest could possibly bump him up to get back into the swing of things against Penn State too.

If Gary and Black both return the same game, Michigan will be at 100 percent when it comes to their starters being healthy and we still haven’t seen what this team is like when everyone is out there contributing and that is scary to think about.
