4-star QB Jay Butterfield Could See Himself at Michigan Following Visit

Jay Butterfield traveled to Ann Arbor this past weekend for a visit to Michigan, and he left with one impression – he could see himself wearing the maize and blue.

The Brentwood (Calif.) Liberty 2020 four-star pro-style quarterback was on hand for Michigan’s 38-13 drubbing of Wisconsin.

Upon arriving, the first thing Butterfield noticed was the facilities.

“The facilities are top-notch,” the quarterback said. “I met with coach (Jim) Harbaugh and (quarterbacks) coach (Pep) Hamilton. The game day experience and over 111,000 in the Big House made for a great atmosphere.”

The 6-foot-6, 180-pound quarterback has offers to Arizona State, California, Colorado, Iowa State, Michigan, Nevada, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington State, Stanford, USC, Washington, Central Michigan, Fresno State, Howard and San Jose State.

Butterfield, getting a good feel for what Michigan is all about, said the trip helped the Wolverines in his recruitment.

“I liked the trip a lot,” he said. “It will definitely help me as I go through the process.”

While Butterfield is highly considering Harbaugh’s team, he is focused on finishing the 2018 season strong for Liberty High School.

Does Butterfield think he could fit at Michigan?

He said it best, “Yes. It is a great place.”

Butterfield is ranked No. 46 in the nation, No. 2 at his position and No. 8 in California, according to 247Sports Composite.

He has thrown for 1,932 yards with 30 touchdowns and three interceptions in the 2018 season. Butterfield will visit Stanford for its game against Washington State on Oct. 27. His father, Mark Butterfield, played quarterback for Stanford from 1992-1995.
