Postgame Updates: Jim Harbaugh after 38-13 win over Wisconsin

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan dominated No. 15 Wisconsin on Saturday night in a game that saw the Wolverines keep the Badgers passing game anemic while the maize and blue gashed the Big Ten West foe on the ground.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is meeting with the media at Crisler Center after the big Week Seven win to discuss what he saw in the victory.

Follow along with our live-blog below:

  • “It was big. Shea really got things going in the first quarter with the long run and the touchdown run he had. Allowed us to stretch their defense. Hit all the gaps. Make them cover, make them account for as many gaps as we could. Well game planned and well executed.”
  • On Karan game-plan: “We went to as many C-gap plays as we could and took 6 — took 6 at halftime and ran those pretty much the whole second half. They were effective.” Says guys were good up front.
  • “Playing really good in the secondary, getting hands on balls.” Notes Lavert’s INT. Says team was in a good position in their coverages.
  • “Shea’s really good, really effective. He’s really seeing things well, in terms of all the reads. He did a great job in his preparation. He was running good, and he was really throwing it good, too, from pre-game on.”
  • “Karan — went over 97 yards in the second half. Did a great job. Got some cracks, fit through them.” Says Tru also did a good job.
  • Says the front played “very physical.”
  • Harbaugh on toughness: “Yeah, in terms of being a physical team, I think we are that. Some guys did a heckuva job defensively.” Credits Jonathan Taylor. “They had a really good offensive line, too. Heckuva good team. Everything they’ve done. I think their record is 15-1 on the road — since Paul’s been there — defensively they give up 14 points average when they’re on the road. I thought our guys responded well tonight.”
  • Harbaugh says the OL “is a confident group….each player: Runyan, Bredeson, Cesar, Mike Onwenu, Juwann Bushell-Beatty — they’re all playing their best football and they’re playing well together.”
  • Harbaugh on Patterson: “He can run — he showed that. And so can Dylan — what it does for your team, it opens a lot for the offense that the defense has to defend.”
  • On championships: “We were focused on this game, like we will this next game.”
  • On slowing Taylor: “He’s a heckuva good back. Getting off of blocks. Not that our guys did that well up front. Our linebackers were swarming — it takes multiple guys to get to the ball to contain backs like Jonathan.”
  • On Dwumfour and Evans returning from injury: “I think they did good. I know Michael was key — I saw some knockback plays where he was getting off of blocks. America loves a tough guy and he fit that mold. I think Chris was still coming along. Maybe not at the top gear yet. Great to see him out there. He contributed. I don’t think he was at his absolute best tonight.”
  • On MSU: “We’ll be really intense for it.”
  • The idea that Michigan can’t win big games: “Hardened by it? That’s irrelevant to me. We’ll do what we’ve been doing, enjoy this win tonight and then get onto our preparation for our next opponent Michigan State.”
  • Harbaugh on Rashan Gary’s availability vs. MSU: “I don’t know.”

That’s it for Harbaugh.
