Former FB Henry Poggi Back at Michigan as Graduate Assistant

After being released by the New England Patriots in the Sept. 1 final cuts, former Michigan fullback Henry Poggi has found himself right back in Ann Arbor – as a graduate assistant.

The 6-foot-4, 244-pound defensive end, tight end and fullback was on the field at Michigan Stadium during warmups against SMU.

Poggi came to Michigan as a four-star prospect from Baltimore (Md.) Gilman in the 2013 class. He was ranked No. 118 in the nation, No. 11 at defensive tackle and No. 4 in Maryland, per 247Sports Composite.

During his tenure with the Wolverines, Poggi played three positions – defensive end (2014), tight end (2015) and fullback (2016, 2017).

Poggi ended with 11 offensive plays from scrimmage for 74 yards and one touchdown. On defense, he added four total tackles.

His father, Biff Poggi, used to be a special teams coach at Michigan under coach Jim Harbaugh. He is now the head coach of St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland.
