Mater Dei 4-star OG Myles Murao Talks Michigan Offer, Friendship with 5-star Elias Ricks

When Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei 2020 five-star cornerback Elias Ricks was on his visit to Michigan for the BBQ at the Big House on July 28, he had his teammate from back home on the phone.

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh asked Ricks who was on the phone, and the five-star prospect explained. Upon hearing his explanation, Harbaugh got on the call and offered 2020 four-star offensive guard Myles Murao.

“(Elias) was telling me how much he loved it and how I should go see how it is out there,” Murao said. “He told me someone wanted to talk to me, and it was Coach Harbaugh. We talked and stuff like that and then he offered me.”

The 6-foot-3, 270-pound offensive lineman has offers to play for Arizona State, Auburn, Colorado, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, USC, Utah and Washington.

“I’m very interested in Michigan because I’ve heard lots of great things about the campus and life up there,” Murao said. “Honestly, I’ll know how interested I am when I get a chance to go up there for a visit.”

Murao said he does not currently have any visits planned for the 2018 season, as he is remaining focused on Mater Dei High School.

“My pass blocking and my outside zone blocking are my strongest points just because of my athleticism,” he explained.

Elias and Murao are very close, starting at the youth football level together. Both have an offer from the Wolverines.

“We may play together in college,” Murao said. “It just depends where we think home is.”

Ricks is ranked No. 8 in the nation, No. 1 at cornerback and No. 3 in California, according to 247Sports Composite. Murao is No. 40 in his class, No. 2 at offensive guard and No. 7 in his home state.
