ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan is officially in the win column after the 49-3 rout of Western Michigan on Saturday.

Now, the Wolverines will shift focus to SMU, who travels to Ann Arbor on Saturday.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is set to meet with the media on Monday for his weekly press conference. WolverinesWire’s Isaiah Hole is live at Schembechler Hall and will share updates below.

The presser is set to begin at 12PM ET.

Follow along with our live-blog below:

  • Harbaugh says Cesar Ruiz is “Good, moving well. Continuing to learn all the nuances of playing the center position. Well ahead of the curve….on the track of being an outstanding player.”
  • Harbaugh says Tru Wilson is “a tremendous plus-plus-plus across the board.” Says Michigan brought him in as a DB, and that he chose to move to RB. “Thought his vision got a lot better during training camp.” He really took to coaching. Says early spring ball and “8-9 days into training camp” really stood out. “He’s really seeing things well. He’s not running into the thick of the defender anymore…his pass protection is very good. It’s all been good. Continuing to improve. A team favorite. Earned a scholarship in training camp. Which has been fantastic.”
  • Notes that 74 players played, 18 in their first game. Mentions both McCurry brothers played in their first game.
  • Feels special teams “is going really good.” Mentions the kick return, blocked punt. Says there’s been good kickoff coverage. “Jake Moody — really happy with him.” Not happy with 1 of 3 in FG kicking.
  • Noah Furbush “is a really dedicated player. Has all the attributes of size and speed…everything you want in a football player…always thought of Noah Furbush as a guy who could be an NFL player. Very compelling story” about how he came about, but notes he doesn’t want to continue in football. Wants to join the military and fly jets. “He’s a gentleman all the way. He likes to protect people.”
  • On the OL: “Keep improving, that’s our mindset. It was good to see Jalen Mayfield get in the game. It was good to see James Hudson get in the game and do well. Both those players, we want to see come and come fast. We have big hopes for both those tackles. It’s a race to see how fast they can get up to speed. In James’ case, it was good to see him play well in the game.” Says “I really think he’ll be a fantastic football player.”
  • “Jalen Mayfield really has everything you’re looking for. Just needs time on task.” Says he just needs more practice. “They’re in the ballpark. That bodes well for us. We want depth there. How fast they can get to if they’re the best player at their position? Time will tell.” Says he’s happy with JBB and Runyan. Likes Onwenu’s emergence. Says Ben Bredeson is the best OL — it was close to best offensive player between Shea Patterson and Bredeson. Bredeson won out.
  • Cesar Ruiz “is really strong” getting to the second level.
  • On playing teams like WMU — “A lot of things. The amount of players we’re able to play. The execution is better.” Says he looks for technique and fundamental improvement.
  • “A couple of throws Shea made — the one he made to his left to Oliver — that was a high level, unbelievable play. The touchdown pass to Donovan really stood out as a great play. That wasn’t coaching.”
  • Harbaugh says there’s no timetable for Tarik Black as of yet.
  • “Felt Dylan (McCaffrey) did a really good job.” Says he didn’t like him taking a sack, “But yeah, really good. He did good. The decision was based on, as you know, going into the Notre Dame game” Brandon Peters was injured.
  • Shea Patterson: “I never make the leash analogy — there’s no leash…He’s throwing very well on the run. We’d like to continue to do that. We have a lot of trust in Shea.”
  • On Beilein being there: “it was great, he looks great. Had a chance to talk to him after the ball game.” Says he seems he has a ton of energy. “Very fired up for John. Hasn’t shown me his scar though!”
  • Having Jim McElwain on staff: “It’s been good, he’s done a great job. Really feel like our receivers are improving, ascending.” Says he helps in game planning, play calling. “Great to be around in the office. Just a really good football coach.”
  • Carlo Kemp on interior: “He’s playing really strong right now. Really dedicated guy — we had no hesitation starting Carlo, playing him a lot. Coming into his own. Physically the strength is showing up.”
  • Ambry Thomas on offense: “That’s something that’s good for us.”
  • Solomon and Marshall’s return: “Can’t really put a time on it. Really getting in the category of questionable. Week to week.”
  • Ed Warinner: “Great communicator, really good teacher. Seen a lot of football. Really experienced. Can really explain things really well. I enjoy his meetings. Talks so people can understand him. Very intense — very intense football coach. Does the things that all good football coaches do — the long hours. But, very precise. It’s in his nature. Detail oriented. It’s all good.”
  • On the WRs finally getting a touchdown: “Just feeling that the receivers are doing the things that receivers need to do. A. number one, create separation. Create space. Create separation. Then catch the ball. Saw that out of Nico. Saw that out of Donovan. Grant is doing it out of an assortment of different routes…seen Oliver Martin create space, get some distance,” make some tough catches. “As a group we’re seeing that. Love the way they’re ascending.”

That’s it for Jim Harbaugh.
