After starting the season ranked number 14 in the nation in the AP Top 25 poll, Michigan is on its way down the list. AP released their poll and Michigan is now ranked 21. Here are the week 2 AP Top 25 rankings:

A loss to Notre Dame last week was the major reason for the change, but luckily there were other ranked teams around the NCAA that had some issues in their week one game as well.

Then #12 Michigan State had issues at home with unranked Utah State, only winning 38-31. Then #23 Texas was upset by unranked and Big Ten school Maryland. Then #9 Auburn upset then #6 Washington 21-16. Then #10 Penn State had to go to overtime to take down Appalachian State at home 45-38. Then #25 LSU got a big upset over then #8 Miami FL winning 33-17 and on Monday night then #20 Virginia Tech upset then #19 Florida State at Florida State, 24-3.

This week, #21 Michigan will travel back home as they have their first game in Ann Arbor at noon on Saturday against the Western Michigan Broncos who are coming off a 55-42 loss to Syracuse last week. Michigan opens up as 28 point favorites.

What are your thoughts on this week’s rankings? Is Michigan too low, or did the committee get it right?
