Thomas Named B1G Special Teams Player of the Week

Michigan may have come up on the short end of the stick when it comes to the final score of the Notre Dame game on Saturday. But that doesn’t mean that one Wolverine cannot be celebrated.

Second-year cornerback and kick returner Ambry Thomas Gave the Wolverines life on Saturday night, when there was seemingly no life to be found. As Michigan needed something of a spark, down 21 to 3, Thomas, back deep to receive a kick, took one all the way back to the end zone for a Michigan touchdown.

And now he’s being honored by the conference for it.

The Big Ten announced on Monday morning that Thomas has received the Big Ten co-special-teams player of the week.

Considering that special teams coach Chris Partridge said last year that Thomas was very close to breaking a return, it’s not surprising that it took all but one game in his second season to make good on that expectation.
