Michigan Adds Three to Scholarship

Yesterday, Michigan longsnapper Cam Cheeseman announced on Twitter that he’s been added to the 85-man scholarship roster, after having pledged to the Wolverines as a walk-on.

Well, at the same time, three others got the same distinction.

WolverinesWire has confirmed with a source that former walk-ons WR Nate Schoenle, OL Andrew Vastardis and RB Tru Wilson have also been added to scholarship.

In past two years, Schoenle had been a walk-on who had gotten a lot of publicity, as a standout in Michigan’s practice settings. In 2017, he put some of that publicity to good use, registering 4 catches for 41 yards.

Vastardis has frequently been mentioned as a player battling for a position in the interior offensive line, and should likely be considered to be in the rotation, especially with this move.

Wilson has come on strong as of late, having switched from safety to running back this past offseason. He gained a lot of publicity in the spring, when head coach Jim Harbaugh said that he emerged as the team’s third tailback behind Chris Evans and Karan Higdon. Since, he’s continued to impress in fall camp, and has made a strong push to be in the rotation this fall.

They join running back Joe Hewlett, who was added to scholarship this spring.
