Detroit (Mich.) Belleville 2019 three-star weak-side defensive end Tyrece Woods has committed to Michigan.
“Michigan has been the most consistent thought the entire process,” Woods told WolverinesWire.
Michigan’s 20th commit in the 2019 class is ranked No. 2,087 in the nation, No. 115 at his position and No. 56 in the state of Michigan, according to 247Sports.
Woods picked the Wolverines over Air Force, Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Cornell, Dartmouth, Eastern Michigan, Fresno State, Kent State and Temple.
At one point, Cincinnati was the favorite. Then everything changed on June 18 – the day Woods got an offer from Michigan.
“After I got the Michigan offer, (Cincinnati) kind of fell back,” he explained.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound prospect recently was in Ann Arbor for the BBQ at the Big House on July 28.
Woods has worked out at linebacker, weak-side defensive end, strong-side defensive end and tight end. It is unclear where Michigan plans to use him if he sticks firm with his pledge.
