Former Michigan OL Mason Cole to Start at Center for Arizona Cardinals

Starting football games is not a foreign task to Mason Cole.

After veteran A.Q. Shipley went down with a torn ACL on Aug. 6, the Arizona Cardinals decided to make Cole the starting center, as reported by The Arizona Republic.

Cole, a third-round 2018 NFL Draft pick and four-year starter at Michigan, started in 51-straight games for the Wolverines. He played his first two seasons

at left tackle, junior year at center and left tackle again as a senior.

Shipley, 32, started every game for the Cardinals over the previous two seasons. Now Cole has outstanding odds to start Arizona’s season opener on Sept. 9 against the Washington Redskins.

Back as a Wolverine, Cole was the first true freshman in Michigan football history to start the season opener on the offensive line.
