Joel Klatt is an unapologetic defender of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh.
If you’ve been following along in these pages, then you’re already well aware of that fact. In several WolverinesWire exclusives, the FOX Sports color analyst explained why the 1-5 against the rivals narrative needs to die as well as why he thinks Michigan is on the up-and-up.
And on Wednesday, he went national, further explaining why he thinks detractors need to lay off the fourth-year Michigan head coach.
Appearing on Colin Cowherd’s simulcast radio/TV show The Herd on Wednesday morning, Klatt further delved into why Harbaugh has Michigan moving in the right direction, and why he thinks there’s a good chance the Wolverines could be the team to beat in the Big Ten East.
While that’s not something many public figures are predicting, Klatt stands firm, saying that Harbaugh’s coaching acumen has proven precisely why, even in the past few years, the Wolverines are on the proper bearing.
“The fact of the matter is, if you look at what Michigan was before Jim Harbaugh got there and what they are now, everybody in the world would say they are exponentially better off,” Klatt told Cowherd. “That’s the fact. He’s won at every single level he’s coached at; almost every single year he exceeds expectations – save for last season. We’ll see what happens this year.
“I’ll tell you this – it’s a great defense; its’s the most talented quarterback he’s had at the college level since Andrew Luck. I think Michigan has a really good chance to win the East Division.”
