For all of 14 days, Michigan was the only offer for Louisville (Ky.) Butler Traditional 2020 cornerback Darius Jones.
Then, Kentucky offered on May 29.
Jones has honored both scholarship offers with a visit – Kentucky on June 11 and Michigan on July 28 for the BBQ at the Big House.
“It was an amazing experience,” Jones said of the Michigan visit. “I was greeted by numerous coaches and went upstairs with our position groups. We went over film, coverages and formations.”
Before Manchester United and Liverpool squared off at Michigan Stadium, Jones and the others had a chance to see the field. After eating lunch, he immediately jumped at the opportunity to suit up in a uniform and take pictures.
“Overall, it was a really good trip for me,” he added. “The facilities are second to none and I love it up in Ann Arbor.”
When asked if he could see himself as a Wolverine, Jones responded with a definitive – “Yes.”
“I could see myself being a part of the family-friendly environment,” Jones continued.
Jones interacted with defensive backs coach Michael Zordich and linebackers coach Al Washington during his time at the barbecue. It was an opportunity for the two coaches to get to know him on a more personal level.
Another plus for Michigan in the recruitment of Jones is with his aunt, Kasandra Dandy.
“My aunt loves the place,” Jones said. “She’s a huge fan of the coaches.
“She has a big say in my college decision.”
Jones is teammates with 2019 three-star wide receiver Demontae Crumes, who committed to Kentucky on June 24 over Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Louisville and others.
