2020 QB Riley Keller Enjoys Michigan Visit, Spending Time with Cade McNamara

Prior to heading to Michigan’s BBQ at the Big House on July 28, Toledo (Ohio) Whitmer 2020 3-star QB Riley Keller hoped to build upon the relationships he had with the staff in Ann Arbor.

During the trip, he did just that.

He had a chance to spend time with quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton and defensive backs coach Michael Zordich.

“We did a little workout with our position coaches and threw to the receivers,” Keller said. “That took about an hour or so and went pretty well. After that, we relaxed and ate. I got to talk to some coaches that I’ve been in contact with.”

The three-star signal caller has offers to play for West Virginia, Bowling Green, Iowa State, Ole Miss, Toledo and Western Michigan. He is interested in the Wolverines, especially after watching a former Whitmer High School star Chris Wormley attend Michigan and advance to the NFL.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound quarterback first got to know coach Jim Harbaugh’s staff at a camp on June 18 this summer.

“My knowledge of the program has always been the same,” Keller said. “I’m very interested and I always have since leaving their camp back in June.”

While participating in the workouts, Keller picked up a few things from Hamilton.

“My school works mostly out of the shotgun, so Coach Hamilton gave us some good drills that required me to take a drop from under center,” he said. “I learned that focusing on the small things in a drop will lead to better mechanics and throws.”

Hamilton invited Keller to come to the Big House for a few games in the 2018 season. Before offering him, the Wolverines want to see him perform on the field for Whitmer High School.

“Coach Hamilton wants to keep in contact,” Keller said. “I also talked to Coach Zordich to see how things are looking for Michigan this year. He asked about what the expectations are for my team as well.”

Keller, when with the quarterbacks, spent every moment with Reno (Nev.) Damonte Ranch 2019 four-star quarterback Cade McNamara, who committed to Michigan on March 16.

“He’s a pretty cool kid,” Keller said of McNamara. “I was throwing with him for the whole time when we were with all the quarterbacks there.”

Keller is ranked No. 554 in the nation, No. 26 at his position and No. 11 in Ohio, according to 247Sports Composite.
