Lavert Hill Selected to 2018 Thorpe Award Watch List

The Jim Thorpe Award, established in 1986, is awarded to the top defensive back in college football.
Michigan junior defensive back Lavert Hill has made the watch list for the Thorpe Award.
In the 2017 season, as a sophomore, Hill made 24 tackles, 5.0 tackles for a loss, two interceptions, seven passes defended and two touchdowns in nine games for the Wolverines.
Michigan State redshirt junior David Dowell was also among the 35 players included on the list.
The winner will be presented the trophy on Dec. 6 at The Home Depot College Football Awards show on ESPN.
Charles Woodson won the award for Michigan in the 1997 season, while Darqueze Dennard won it for Michigan State in 2013.
Other winners include Deion Sanders, Carlos Rogers, Eric Berry, Patrick Peterson, Morris Claiborne, Desmond King and most recently, Minkah Fitzpatrick from Alabama in 2017.
