Payne’s teammate Andre Seldon is committed to Michigan’s 2020 class.

Michigan added its first Belleville High School commit in 2020 three-star cornerback Andre Seldon on June 20.

The next potential Wolverine from Belleville (Mich.) will be in attendance for Michigan’s BBQ at the Big House on July 28 – 2021 strong side defensive end Damon Payne.

“I look forward to hanging out with my dad that day and just having a little fun,” Payne said.

The 6-foot-4, 275-pound rising lineman has offers to play for Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Iowa, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Purdue, Syracuse and USC.

Payne is excited to do a variety of things at the BBQ in Ann Arbor, especially improving his relationship with all members of the Wolverines.

“I want to just have fun with the other players and see the coaches again,” he said. “I’m excited to eat and that’s basically it.”

Despite his teammate 2019 5-star offensive lineman Devontae Dobbs calling Michigan “robots” to ESPN 100.9-FM, Payne is “very” interested in coach Jim Harbaugh’s team.

“It’s home,” Payne said of Michigan. “But again, it’s still early. I’m focused on the season.”
