DJ Turner II and Josh Downs both attend North Gwinnett High School in Georgia.

With Michigan’s annual BBQ at the Big House coming up on July 28, recruits from around the nation are beginning to RSVP to the event.

One of those players is Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett 2020 four-star wide receiver Josh Downs.

The 5-foot-10, 165-pound athlete has offers to play for Appalachian State, Boston College, Cincinnati, Colorado State, East Tennessee State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Iowa State, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, N.C. State, North Carolina, Oregon, Rutgers, Southern Miss, Temple, Tulane and West Virginia.

Downs is seriously considering the Wolverines, who offered him on May 9.

“I talk to the coaches daily and they can’t wait for me to get up there on the 28th,” Downs said of his upcoming BBQ visit.

The rising 2020 prospect is excited to get to workout for a little with Michigan receivers coach Jim McElwain and assistant Roy Roundtree.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the entire staff and getting some work in with Coach Mac and Roundtree,” Downs said. “I also want to see the campus and facilities.”

Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett 2019 three-star cornerback DJ Turner II, a teammate of Downs and Michigan commit, is actively recruiting his predecessor to join him in the Maize and Blue.

“He always tells me to come home,” Downs said, referencing Michigan. “He said they really want me in Ann Arbor.”

Downs is also close with Norcross (Ga.) Greater Atlanta Christian 2019 five-star defensive end Christopher Hinton, a Wolverines commit, and Buford (Ga.) 2018 three-star running back Christian Turner, who is already enrolled at Michigan.

“He told me to join him and that it’s a great move,” Downs said of his conversation with Hinton.

The four-star is ranked No. 228 in the 2020 class, No. 41 at wide receiver and No. 27 in Georgia, according to 247Sports Composite.
