The era of separation between the Fab Five and the University of Michigan appears to be over.

Sanctions ended a few years back, and Jalen Rose, Jimmy King, Juwan Howard and Ray Jackson have made their way back to Ann Arbor in the past two years.

Rose in particular has been active, hosting the Michigan basketball Jordan brand jersey unveiling with DJ Khaled, but one notable name has been missing.

Well, no longer.

Webber joined legendary Michigan running back Jamie Morris on his WTKA radio show, The M Zone on Friday, and talked about multiple topics, including how he reached out to former Wolverines punter Blake O’Neill after his fumble cost the team the 2015 game against MSU. While that shows that Webber is still invested in the program, now he’ll formally be recognized, once again, by the university.

According to Morris, Webber has formally accepted a return to campus, as an honorary captain for a football game, having been invited by Jim Harbaugh himself.

The game has yet to be announced as of this juncture.

The honorary captain program has been in place since 2016, when former NBA legend and Chicago Bulls basketball star Michael Jordan took the field at the Wolverines season opener. Other notable captains include Tom Brady, Rich Eisen, Charleen Woodson and Activision CEO Bobby Kotick — who was revealed to have bankrolled Michigan’s two European excursions the past two springs.
