Introducing WolverinesWire

A new Michigan athletics experience, brought to you by the USA Today Sports Media Group.

Introducing WolverinesWire

Holistic Michigan coverage from a trusted name.

Pun only slightly intended.

For those who haven’t followed my work, I’m Isaiah Hole, and I’ve covered the Michigan football team (with some basketball, baseball, hockey and softball thrown in for good measure) for 247Sports the past three years. I started out as a sideline photographer for the Wolverines 2015 Spring Game, and somehow ended up with me being a writer, full-time, being officially hired in June 2016.

A little more: I’m a University of Michigan graduate, having received a degree in Screen Arts and Cultures (read: film), which led me to my initial career pursuit in the film industry. While I didn’t have much journalism experience (aside from interviewing touring bands in high school for a fanzine that didn’t exist) covering my alma mater was a dream of mine, and a pursuit I kept following until Steve Lorenz (to whom I owe more than a debt of gratitude) gave me a chance, along with Steve Wiltfong.

So, enough about who I am, and let’s talk about what I intend to do.

I’ve often felt immersed in all things Michigan, and that’s an experience I hope to relay to you. Be it through photography, videos, large-scale news, small-scale (like tweets you may have missed, or other trivial miscellany), analysis or even pure entertainment as it relates to Michigan athletics, I plan to continue to give the coverage that I did in my time at 247Sports — and then some. There will be team coverage, well-sourced inside info, football recruiting, opinion pieces, and it will all be FREE — with absolutely nothing behind a paywall.

We will strive to bring you as holistic and comprehensive coverage as possible.

I hope you’ll come along with us on this journey.
