After reaching out to some sources, WolverinesWire heard of five Michigan players who have made big jumps this offseason.
Five Wolverines who have made the biggest impression in Spring/Summer
While most fans will have their eyes on QB Shea Patterson, phenom WRs Donovan Peoples-Jones and Tarik Black, there are five other players who should be on everyone’s radar.
The quarterback battle and the state of the offensive line are the biggest questions the maize and blue are facing heading into 2018.
With former five-star transfer quarterback Shea Patterson garnering most of the headlines, along with the usual suspects from last year — such as defensive ends Rashan Gary and Chase Winovich — after speaking with some well-placed sources close to the program, there are other names that fans should be on the lookout for.
While one Wolverine noted (by multiple sources) is one who has gotten arguably the most hype this offseason, a few more younger players were mentioned, and could play a big part in the upcoming 2018 season.
First and foremost:
rs sophomore dt michael dwumfour
The player everyone was expecting, assuredly. However, several sources told WolverinesWire that the hype was warranted, as the third-year player started to come on late last fall, and has shown no signs of slowing.
It should be no surprise, considering that coaches and teammates, alike, praised Dwumfour during spring ball.
“We’ve got this guy, Jersey kid, Michael Dwumfour,” third-year defensive end Rashan Gary said. “Fast off the ball with a get-off just like Mo. It’s ridiculous. But you’re going to see it when time comes. Having him, having Lawrence, having young guys like Deron, stepping in able to play. Having a couple other people trying at three-tech. So it’s cool. Everything’s rolling around, everybody’s looking smooth.”
